West Texas & Plains Youth Ministries
Speed
the Light
Cultivating a heart of missional generosity in the next generation.
Speed the Light is a student-led movement that puts vehicles, communication gear, and compassion into the hands of missionaries around the world. When students give, missionaries go — and the lost are found.
The Legacy · Since 1944
Eighty years of students sending light into the dark
In 1944, Ralph Harris imagined a movement of generosity among Assemblies of God youth — a goal of raising $100,000 to put missionaries on the road with the gospel. Eight decades later, generations of students have stayed ALL IN, giving more than $400 million to advance that mission. And this is still just the beginning.
Speed the Light spreads the gospel by providing the practical things missionaries need to reach people who have never heard the name of Jesus:
- Vehicles and essential transportation that get missionaries where they are called.
- Creative communication and media equipment to share the message.
- Clean water, disaster relief, outreaches, and safe houses for trafficking victims — a tangible demonstration of God’s love.

Where your giving is going right now
West Texas & Plains is rallying behind two needs this year. Every gift to Speed the Light fuels real transportation and real outreach — here’s where it lands.
Convoy of Hope
Advancing stability and self-reliance across the Sahel.
Convoy of Hope is a faith-based organization driven to feed the world through children’s feeding, community outreach, and disaster response. In the Sahel — the epicenter of overlapping food, climate, and security crises — their integrated model pairs school-based feeding with women’s empowerment and agriculture, anchored locally through churches so communities can endure, recover, and thrive.
Reaching people in famine and disaster zones takes wheels. Speed the Light helps provide the humanitarian outreach and disaster-response vehicles that get Convoy of Hope to families when it matters most.

AG Foster Care Network
Reaching America’s modern orphan crisis with the hope of Jesus.
An average of 435,000 children are in the U.S. foster care system every day — many growing up without a healthy home or family. The AG Foster Care Network is teaming up with CompACT Family Services to redeem vulnerable children and families through compassionate action, with a goal of reaching five percent of those children each year.
Funded together by STL and BGMC, this effort sustains existing foster care programs, launches new ones, and equips AG U.S. Missionaries to keep serving foster families around the clock.
